Orange County is more than Newburgh. It’s an area packed to the gills with some of the most charming, historic villages in the Hudson Valley. The county seat of Goshen village has been the focus of our Upstater adoration in the past, and if you happen to be in the neighborhood, we invite you to take a walking tour around the Church Park Historic District.

But Goshen hasn’t cornered the market on attractive older architecture and easy walkability. Warwick village, too, offers its own historic district walking tour, and other villages and hamlets like Cornwall-on-Hudson, Highland Falls, and Sugar Loaf bring their own allure to the table.

So, this week, we’ll be touring Orange County’s most charming corners and sorting out the equally-charming properties currently on the market, many of them quite affordable. For the uninitiated, be warned: Orange County property taxes are notoriously high, but if staying within 90 minutes of NYC is a requirement for Hudson Valley homeownership, the pros might just outweigh that con. Stay tuned…
