Cross Contemporary Art Gallery in Saugerties is hosting a solo show “All the Living Things” featuring the works of painter and illustrator Jim Holl. The show, which will remain on view through March 26, includes a series of small paintings, part of an upcoming book that deals with themes at the intersection of art, science, symbols and archetypes. Holl’s paintings have been shown at The New Museum, PS1 Museum, and Artists Space in New York City. “All the Living Things” opens with a reception this Saturday, March 4 at 5 pm. Albany Symphony Orchestra Performs at the Troy Music Hall
Albany Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Allen Miller, performs at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy this Saturday, March 4 at 7:30 pm. The program includes Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, and Bach’s Cantata No. 78 “Jesu, der du meine Seele” as well as new compositions by American classical music composer Michael Torke. The program includes the world’s premiere of Torke’s Concertinos for Oboe, Clarinet, and Bassoon. Torke has been described by The New York Times as “a master orchestrator whose shimmering timbral palette makes him the Ravel of his generation.” For tickets and more information, click here.
Saturdays at the Woods
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel is hosting Saturdays at the Woods, a program dedicated to fueling creativity for families with children age 4-13. The program, which includes art-based activities, will help children explore and develop artistic skills, and will take place every Saturday from March 4 to May 6.
