The Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, Ulster County received a recent nod from the NYT, but not for their spa services, brunch buffet, or beautiful ice skating rink. Instead, the Hudson Valley resort destination nestled into the Mohonk Preserve is offering free meditation to guests in order to help them calm down enough to actually enjoy their vacations for a change. And, those meditation sessions are open to the whole family, which means kids can take advantage of those calming vibes, too. Nina Smiley, director of mindfulness programming at Mohonk, was quoted in the article as saying even three minutes of meditation twice a day is enough to soothe the savage breast…or the overstimulated child on vacation, whichever needs soothing first. No need to book a stay at a yoga retreat. Just come to the Hudson Valley, instead.
