Osterhoudt House in Lake Katrine, $349,000
Kandy Harris | September 19, 2014Built circa-1691, the Osterhoudt House in Lake Katrine is, as you’ve probably suspected, one of the oldest houses in Ulster County. The Senate House in Kingston is older, but that’s just about it (fun fact: The oldest house in upstate New York is the Bronck House in Coxsackie. It was built in 1663). Call us weird, but we get kind of tingly at the thought of living in a house this old and just bursting with history and families and stories to tell. In fact, here’s an extensive history of the house itself, which eventually left the Osterhoudt family in the 1920s. Anyway, we just love it. Except that the ceilings look low in some of the rooms. Was it built for short people? Or perhaps it’s just an optical illusion. But what cooler antique to own than your actual house? Sits on a half-acre of land at the end of a dead-end street in Lake Katrine, which is just north of Kingston.
