Rhinebeck Village Living in a Converted Barn, $545,000
Kandy Harris | April 1, 2015
This barn conversion is a bit different because it includes an addition that was built in the 1950s. We feel like there must be some way to elegantly parlay a 1950s mid-mod sensibility into an early 20th century barn/farmhouse. Either way, the house has a lot going on, seemingly, from the big stone fire place in the living room to the knotty pine/retro kitchen and dining room, to a more traditional white-washed second floor with high ceilings. We like it all, but we’d love to see how it flows together in person. Property includes two other barns on the somewhat smallish .3 acres of land (at least it’s located at the quite end of a residential cul de sac) situated about 4 blocks from the center of the village where the restaurants, movie theater, and shops are located. Half a mill seems a bit steep to us for a 2000 square foot converted barn on less than a half acre, but, to mangle from a great movie, forget it, Jake. This is Rhinebeck Town.
