Going Goth with a Hudson Church Now $479,000
Kandy Harris | December 21, 2015This isn’t our first trip to the rodeo with the 1870s Gothic church in the Columbia County city of Hudson. It first appeared on our radar a little over a year ago when it was listed at $499,000. Since then, it has a new listing agent, fabulous photos, and the price that’s been reduced by $20,000.
Once upon a time, the Hudson Abbey (as its referred to in the listing) was Saint Matthew’s Lutheran Church. These days, however, it’s a doozy of a private residence with all of the original ecclesiastical trappings intact (stained glass windows galore, grand arched doorways, exposed brick, and an alter alcove in the main first floor living area still looking sermon-ready) and a wide-open floor plan.
Interior space totals up to 2500 sq. ft. and includes 3 beds/1.5 baths, all situated on a tenth located a few short blocks from effervescent Warren Street. Now, we can’t promise that living in church will get you in good graces with You Know Who, but hey. It can’t hurt, right?
