Converted c.1855 Brick Carriage House in Cornwall-on-Hudson, $1,030,500
Kandy Harris | June 20, 2016Over a million might be a bit rich for a Monday, but we couldn’t resist taking a closer look at this renovated 19th Century carriage house in Cornwall-on-Hudson, Orange County. As the name implies, Cornwall-on-Hudson (in the town of Cornwall) is situated along the west side of the Hudson River nestled up against the water and brimming with old buildings and homes. The property is about a five minute walk to the river and a short drive away from Bear Mountain State Park (all of our properties are around Bear Mountain State Park this week, in case you missed our earlier post), Storm King Art Center, West Point, Stewart Airport, Newburgh city, and points north like New Paltz and Kingston.
But back to the house, which we are crushing on in a big way. The brick building has been renovated into a contemporary loft with soaring ceilings, wood rafters and floors, tons of exposed brick walls, and a lot of space…5100 square feet of it, plus 5 beds/4 baths. We absolutely adore the cloverleaf windows and the backyard garden area, as well as the general openness of it all. It’s an embarrassment of riches in terms of style and space, so we get the over-a-million dollar price tag.
