A C.1900 Arlington Schoolhouse Next to Eastdale Village for $700K

Today’s Poughkeepsie pick is in the Arlington neighborhood. Once a c.1900 Arlington schoolhouse, it’s now a four-bedroom home.

Disclaimer: It’s a residential home that’s very close to a busy commercial intersection and the 400-unit Eastdale Village rental community. But if you can handle the commotion, the c.1900 Arlington schoolhouse is a lovely space. Cheerful yellow siding brightens the exterior, and bluestone forms a pathway and the front stoop.

The original wood floors exist here, albeit quite worn. Beams crisscross the ceiling.

The living room is a soothing shade of green.

One bathroom exists in this house, and it’s a mix of spectacular tilework and walls that need work. Black and white penny tile runs all around the floor, and similar-color tiles climb the walls. A freestanding sink hugs a corner of the bathroom next to a black cupboard.

The kitchen is a bit dated, but the burlwood cabinets and black counters really don’t need to change if that’s your thing. We would swap out the white appliances, though. The corner sink is a space-saving idea, though somewhat inconvenient in our experience.

Of the four bedrooms listed for the house, only one is pictured: It’s got gray walls and hardwood flooring, and a nice big double window.

An above-ground pool is just off the back deck—replete with a lifeguard chair!

The 1,948-square-foot house sits on a half-acre, and like we said it’s close to Arlington’s business district.

Being so close to Eastdale, you’re across the street from Rossi & Sons Alimentari, The Crafted Kup Coffeehouse, and several other dining and shopping options and services.
