A Dollhouse Catskill Victorian for $455K

  |  December 5, 2023

Upstater is looking at another Victorian in Catskill today—it’s about five minutes north of the village, and set among mature trees and lovely landscaping.

The home was built in 1910 and has lots of room inside: 2,367 square feet, to be exact. The exterior is classic Victorian, with white gingerbread railings on the wraparound porch and elaborate gable trim surrounding fish-scale siding on the topmost level.

The porch ceiling looks a little wavy, and the floor is weatherbeaten, but you can’t beat this setting on a breezy summer’s day.

The house has a mix of great details and a great need for updates, and the foyer is a good example of that. The newel post on the center stair is gorgeous, but the stairs themselves need refinishing. The floor is newly laid wood.

The living room/parlor is minimalist, with pale walls and dark wood trim.

Next to it is a family room that has a bow window and walls that complement the wood flooring.

Behind the family room, this bedroom is perfect for guests, with a sturdy carpet and oversized windows.

Double doors swing from the family room into the dining room. Built-in china cabinets and a bifold-door closet offer attractive storage; red walls climb atop white paneled wainscoting.

There’s room in the kitchen for a dinette, along with a center island for additional prep space and storage. The flooring is in good condition, but the green Formica counters and oak cabinets could use a refresh if the new owner is up for it.

This laundry room is off the kitchen, and has sliding glass doors out to the deck.

Upstairs are more bedrooms. The blue painted walls could use a touchup, but the room’s a good size and has a shiny, dark hardwood floor and oversized windows.

This bathroom has a mosaic tile accent wall behind a white vanity; a charcoal-toned tile floor; and a tub/shower combo.

The same wood floor as in the other bedroom appears in this one, which has big windows and neutral walls.

This room is being used as a gym. It has interesting angles and the same color scheme as the last bedroom.

A few nooks and crannies offer storage or sleeping options.

Hope you like pink: This half-bathroom is full of it all over the walls. The house also has another full bath.

The open-air back deck is a welcoming space for entertaining or just chilling in the dappled shade of the trees.

A detached, one-car garage is handy, too.

The house sits on a picturesque third of an acre, not far from skiing at Windham Mountain Club and a four-minute drive to the middle of Catskill and libations at Crossroads Brewing Company.
