A Kerhonkson Cottage (and Studio) for $675K

Kerhonkson has earned the nickname “Kerhampton” for its recent popularity for weekenders and tourists. Today’s property is more of a permanent abode—because who would want to leave?

The dark gray board-and-batten exterior echoes the shade of the stone walls that crisscross the lawns and meadows here. This is the rear view of the home: The “front” door is on the narrower end of the house.

The darkness of the exterior is washed away on the inside, where white walls rule the roost. The living room/dining room takes advantage of a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, and light hardwood floors are underfoot.

Beautiful mountain views greet you through those pretty windows.

A ceiling beam separates the living and dining areas.

And a wood stove holds court in a bluestoned corner; the stone climbs into a column with slate shelves for firewood storage. A bench at the front door allows for easy outerwear removal.

The dining area shares the mountain and woodsy views.

There’s no mistaking the home’s 1987 birth when you enter the kitchen. A nice gray countertop and mosaic tile backsplash are a good start for the renovations that we hope the new owner would consider, as we’re not a fan of the ’80s white-and-wood laminate cabinetry.

Still, it’s a cheery space, with stainless steel appliances and room for free-standing storage.

This full-glass door is what we saw in the first image up top. It leads to a deck and the yard.

White wood steps angle their way up to the second level. We imagine that a railing might be needed here.

A skylight in the peaked ceiling and twin casement windows drench the primary bedroom in sunlight. A second bedroom is mentioned but not pictured in the listing.

An arbor invites you to stroll the nearly five-acre property.

An inground pool, surrounded by a bluestone deck, is a happy surprise in the warmer months.

This outbuilding is as rustic on the outside as the main house. It has a bluestone patio outside the glass front door.

The interior is a bright and airy studio.
