A Move-In-Ready Ranch in Chester: $675K

  |  February 8, 2024

Today, Upstater’s at a move-in-ready ranch in Chester that’s a true getaway—and surprisingly close to conveniences.

This three-bedroom, 2.5-bath ranch in Orange County has all the Midcentury Modern vibes on its exterior, from the brick half-walls to a covered verandah.

We’re convinced the front door and its twin sidelights date to the home’s c.1968 birth.

The entry is subtly beautiful with inlaid wood in the floor.

The kitchen is lined with light honey-toned cabinetry and a gray tiled floor. A big bay window sits above a zig-zag backsplash.

A skylight pours sunshine above that window. The appliances, like the dishwasher and built-in fridge, probably need some updating.

The same goes for the dining room drapery, but the floor and that big, four-pane picture window do a lot to redeem the room’s decor.

The living room echoes the dining room’s drapery; track lighting angles overhead, and the bow window here curves out with five panes.

A family room has double glass doors flanking a picture window that lead to an oversized three-season room. Handsomely finished in fine wood and a tile floor, this room’s great for entertaining.

It’s got skylights, too.

The house’s three bedrooms are all a good size. This one has blue walls and a hardwood floor, with blinds on a multitude of windows.

This bedroom is large enough for a full-size sofa in addition to the bed and dresser, plus it has a closet.

An office occupies the third bedroom.

Ok, it needs updating; but look past the plethora of tile to see a huge space that’s begging for a remodel (we might consider hanging onto that blue tub, though).

This bathroom’s a bit calmer, with some nice blue and white tile in the glassed-in shower stall.

A half-bath lives in the lower level; this definitely needs a decor update.

The rest of the basement echoes the height of 1960s-70s decor, down to the paneled columns.

A wall of windows and glass doors leads to an expansive deck…

…that steps down to the yard and an inground pool.

Concrete decking is low-maintenance—and a cabana is perfect for changing or just getting out of the sun.

This image shows how close the pool is to the deck.

The entire two-acre lot is fenced in, so deer won’t be munching the gardens like their own personal salads.

Fabulous shopping at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets is just 15 minutes from here;  excellent, old-fashioned Italian meals can be had within a seven-minute drive to La Vera Cucina.
