A New Catskills Cabin for $350K? Pinch Us, We’re Not Dreaming.

  |  September 23, 2022

We’re forgoing our usual Five-Figure Friday to spotlight this beauty of a cabin in the Andes/Margaretville woods.

Created by the design/build team of Whisky Hollow, it’s a luxurious Catskills cabin at a relatively affordable price.

It measures just 980 square feet, but the home’s layout is cleverly designed and doesn’t feel cramped. Wood floors, high ceilings, and white walls keep things airy and bright. The main living area combines a living room and dining area, lit with modern chandeliers and natural light from lots of big windows.

The cabin was just built this year—the listing says everything was carefully curated, down to the exposed beams cut from Catskill Mountain hemlock. Sliders from the dining area open to the big deck.

The kitchen is a combination of white lower cabinets and live-edge wood shelving. The peninsula combines the polished-concrete countertop with a carefully matched live-edge breakfast bar. Stainless-steel appliances frame the “work triangle” of the kitchen.

The primary bedroom has floor-to-ceiling sliding barn doors surrounding a pair of big windows. A high-pitched ceiling and modern chandelier continue the esthetic of the rest of the house.

Here, too, are rustic wood floors, big windows, high ceilings and whitewashed walls.

Penny tile on the floor coordinates with a mix of black and white tile in the full bathroom. The soaking tub sits inside the shower area—a design detail that’s not common, but actually makes a lot of sense. Yes, we noticed the sink lacks faucets; the listing says the sellers will provide a list of items that will be finished before closing.

What the house may lack in square footage, it makes up for in lot size: This petite abode sits on five acres, close to outdoor fun like hiking and boating.
