Upstater is wrapping up its schoolhouse week at the former Fosterdale Schoolhouse in western Sullivan County.
Dating back to 1880, the school served local schoolchildren for decades. Now, it’s a turnkey one-bedroom, one-bath home in a woodsy setting. White siding, black shutters, and a red standing-seam metal roof make up the exterior. A portico on the front deck has a red metal roof, too.
The whitewashed lathe walls and big windows in the living room give away the home’s past life. The floor is much newer, though.
A pellet stove warms up the open-concept space, which includes a dining area with a crystal chandelier overhead.
A chalkboard on the wall is a vintage touch.
The kitchen was nicely remodeled and has granite counters; a two-seat breakfast bar; white cabinetry; and white appliances including an electric range and fridge.
The bathroom is a beauty, with marble tile on the floor, a modern white sink sitting on a black vanity, and black accents that complement the white-tile tub/shower surround. The bedroom isn’t pictured in the listing.
The front deck is a dramatic black, just a step above a stone walkway.
