Have we mentioned the Catskill Walking Tour yet? It’s one of our favorite free activities in Greene County. Start at Dutchman’s Landing Park at the end of Main Street in the village and follow the marked Walking Tour trail through the woods and into the surrounding neighborhoods. Make sure you take the time to stop at the Beattie-Powers Place. The small concert venue sits on some of the most beautiful grounds in the area with benches situated on a lush green slope with view of the river and the Rip Van Winkle bridge. We highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a crazy-romantic location to picnic. Your date will be so impressed with your knowledge of this place that he/she will barely notice that you’re not spending any money. But we digress. The Center Hall Federal depicted above is visible on the tour and is just one example of the kind of homes you’ll find as you wander Catskill. One thing not visible on the tour, however, is the interior, so imagine our delight when we found it on the market, allowing us the opportunity to peek inside. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. It’s pristine and well-appointed with a lot of space (3400 square feet), fire places, and a kitchen we wouldn’t mind cooking in at all. This property gives us something to chew on while we await the warmer days of spring and with it, the chance to revisit the Walking Tour. See you on the trails!
