Beacon Walkable Beauty, $315,000
Upstater Staff | September 17, 2014Okay, “walkable” might be a bit of stretch. Bike-rideable might be more appropriate. This sweet Victorian is located a few blocks from Main Street shops and businesses, so getting around on bike seems pretty doable. The Metro-North station, however, is much farther away, about 20 minutes by foot. You could cab it back and forth easily, or find a super-nice friend in the neighborhood who can pick you up/drop you off. The house is simply adorable, painted in cheerful Easter egg colors and includes a wee fenced in back yard with its own grape arbor. Beacon is really coming into its own (that’s been happening for a while). It’s definitely a destination town, thanks to the Dia:Beacon, local music venues like the Towne Crier Cafe, the new Dr. Who-themed cafe called Pandorica (we wrote about that place a while back; the place darn near exploded from going viral online), and the Roundhouse, just to name a few.
