The Internets are buzzing over Poughkeepsie-based Sprout Creek Farm’s third-place tie for Best in Show during the American Cheese Society’s 2014 competition. Okay, maybe not ALL of the Internets are a-buzz, but they are in our corner of the world. Sprout Creek’s Eden cheese tied with California’s Oakdale Cheese & Specialties aged Gouda. In spite of its tied position, Sprout Creek still ranked highest among all of New York’s cheesemakers, and if you’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting Sprout Creek’s fare, you’ll know why. We first experienced Sprout Creek during last year’s Hudson Valley Restaurant Week preview at the Millbrook Winery, and frankly, we weren’t sure we could return to the world of grocery store cheese.
