This little cabin caught our eye. It’s in “downtown” Philmont, a hamlet just outside of Hudson, which has a bookstore and a couple of great restaurants, among other attributes.

The listing calls it a starter pied-a-terre, and yes, it’s a cottage, folks: the square footage is not revealed, but you can fit two bedrooms in it, and sit on the deck, listening to the creek if it’s too cozy inside. We’re partial to the 1950s green paint, the beamed ceilings, the landscaping. Taxes are in the $2,500 range. It abuts the High Falls Conservation Area.
