From A Matter of Place at the CMFF

In lieu of being productive in the sunshine this morning, we decided to sit in the dark and watch a bunch of trailers for films in the Catskill Mountain Film Festival, which runs May 2-4 at SUNY Delhi (GMAP). There were some compelling choices, but we found ourselves needing to know more after watching a trailer for A Matter of Place, a short half-hour documentary directed by Bill Kavangh on housing discrimination among the African American community. The film zeros in on three stories straight from the mouths of those who experienced housing discrimination first-hand. This is important stuff, people.

Note: The “Trailers” page on the CMFF website doesn’t have any trailers on it, so in order to satisfy your curiosity, you’ll have to go to “Films” and look for a trailer on each individual film link. Sadly, we only made it to the Fs before we had to relent to outside productivity. Anyway, the CMFF program’s not up yet, but check back here in a couple of days for the complete list of festival goings-on. Meanwhile, also compelling and also about racism, this time in upstate New York, this trailer.
