Front Porch Goals in this Fanciful Colonial in Putnam County, $450,000
Kandy Harris | February 24, 2016Who hasn’t been visited by a front porch like this one in their dreams? Just us? Okay, we can live with that. If loving this cupcake of a front porch is wrong, we don’t wanna be right. Yes, we know it looks out onto the road. We can still appreciate its rocking-chair appeal and Antebellum flair. Furthermore, said porch happens to be attached to a c.1820 Colonial house with 3700 square feet of space + 6 beds/3.5 baths – more than enough space for a big family – and a full acre of land.
Patterson village doesn’t get as much attention as its chi-chi Putnam County neighbors like Cold Spring and Garrison, but the housing stock is generally more affordable. And, like Cold Spring and Garrison, a village location means walking distance to the train station. On foot, it will take 10 minutes to get to the Metro North for a 2 hour 15 minute train to Grand Central. By car, you’re less than 90 minutes from midtown if traffic is good. We expected the taxes to be much higher than the $10,282 on the listing, if you can believe that. Putnam County isn’t exactly known for it’s low taxes.
