What You Get for $1500/month (or less)
Upstater Staff | September 22, 2014Sparked by this list that we posted about last week, we decided to compile our own collection of rental properties in the HV/Catskills, all for $1500/month or less. Not surprisingly, you can get a lot for $1500/month, depending on where you look. The average rent for a 2-bedroom in Ulster County comes to about $994/month, according to the 2010 Ulster County housing survey. Even 3-bed rentals don’t reach the $1500 mark. Realtor.com puts Greene County’s average rent at $962/month for a 2-bed. Here are some other average 2-bed rentals around the Upstater area, again, from Realtor.com:
Dutchess County – $1498/mo.
Columbia County – $1267
Delaware County – $1950 (for a 3-bed; the inventory in Delaware is really low right now)
Sullivan County – $895
Otsego County – $1100
Putnam County – $2054
Rockland County – $2143
And, for comparison’s sake:
Manhattan – $4042/month for a 2-bed apt.
This week, we’ll be looking around the Upstater area for some rental gems that are drool-worthy without tanking your bottom line. Who doesn’t love that?
