Hankering for a $50,000 Lake House? Us, too.
Kandy Harris | July 25, 2014But wait! A lake rights house. Different from a house on the lake. Lake rights means you can use the lake, but you’re not not close enough to jump off your back deck into the water. The advantage of lake rights over lakefront is that, given that the house is set back from the lake, it’s usually cheaper. And $49,900 sounds pretty okay with us for this cute 903-square foot 1 bed cottage just feet from Mohican Lake in Glen Spey, Sullivan County. Could it use some sprucing? Well, yeah. We affectionately refer to this type of overhead lighting as “crack den lighting,” so that’s out. And the bedroom is a little drab. But it comes with a wood stove, wood floors, and a half-acre of land. Plus, there seems to be some kind of outdoor storage shed that we’re really hoping isn’t the bathroom. We’re also wondering if this is a cash-only property. Some of these cheapies are, so something to keep in mind.
