House Crush of the Week: Pristine Delhi Victorian, $179,000
Kandy Harris | September 17, 2015If we were going to pick a village in the western Catskills to call home, Delhi in Delaware County would mostly likely make our short-list. And not just because of the historic architecture that lines Delhi’s streets, although that’s a big part of it. Delhi is a walking-friendly village that also happens to be a college town (SUNY Delhi), and, from what we’ve read, the Delhi school district is decent (student/teacher ratio is 11/1, and we like those numbers). In fact, the schools are located walking distance from this Delhi Victorian beauty, which is only one of the reasons we made it our House Crush of the Week. As for the other reasons…well, have a look-see for yourself. We love the thoughtfulness that went into details like the tile backsplash in the kitchen (which was recently renovated, according to the listing), the wood stove backsplash, the color schemes for each room, and the fact that the old house has been meticulously maintained. Includes over a quarter-acre of yard space with gardens and stone patio, plus a garage and a shed that looks just right for a studio or guest accommodations. Sadly, we can’t overlook the fact that it sits right on the Delaware River and is at risk for flooding. That fact, however, isn’t going to stop us from loving this house for its attractiveness and price.
