This year’s O+ Festival in Kingston might not be happening until mid-October, but that doesn’t mean the press hasn’t already started for the music event. Details.com recently posted in their blog about the festival, which offers free health care to participating musicians, and explains how local artist Joe Concra and Kingston dentist Thomas Cingel created the idea to offer meds for music. The festival has picked up steam over the years, and there’s even an O+ in San Francisco. Could there be more in other locations? According to Dr. Cingel in the article, there’s no reason why festivals like this can’t happen everywhere. “If you wanted to put on a bluegrass festival in Indiana, and you’re a healthcare provider, you can put on your own festival,” he says. “As long as there are healthcare professionals willing to donate their time and watch a wonderful festival, this will happen. Think about it this way: You can purchase art to benefit an artist directly, or you can put on a festival to benefit the whole community.” O+ Festival takes place this year October 10-12.
