Folks, it’s not online, but we urge you to pick up the next issue of Preservation magazine, in which  their “favorite story will introduce a youthful historical society director who is making preservation key to urban renewal in Newburgh, N.Y., the murder capital of the state.”

Newburghers are not happy about the mention of murder, although that’s part of what makes the story of restoration efforts their so newsworthy — in such a desperate city, there are dogged and dedicated reformers saving the place, one house at a time. The article, it must be noted, was written by yours truly.
