Own a Piece of New Windsor History for Less than $100,000

If you’ve spent any time driving along State Route 32 in the Orange County town of New Windsor, you may have noticed this little stone house, AKA the Benjamin Woodruff House, along the way. It was built in 1790 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, rather an honor for a house that sits along a busy roadway populated by somewhat bland architecture. Don’t let those buildings fool you, though: New Windsor is rich with history and a key location during the Revolutionary War. Now, it has monuments and historic markers hidden all over the place, some in plain sight like this one.
Dare we call it turn-key? It certainly appears that way, and while it does have a few stylistic quirks (purple carpeting, floral wallpaper), it looks ready for your tweaks and updates. Oh, how we wish this were on a couple of acres out in the country, but alas. Includes 3 beds/1.5 baths, 1500 sq. ft., nearly a half-acre property size (that’s one big back yard), and relatively inexpensive taxes ($7700/yr 2014). Listing price is well below its $187,600 value.
