Are you finding yourself enamored by the gorgeous townhouses on and around Warren Street in Hudson city? Can’t say that we blame you. The Hudson housing market prices, however, do a lot to quell our lust, so we’re constantly on the lookout for similar Victorian, Colonial, and Federal-style townhouses situated in other, more affordable historic neighborhoods. That’s where Newburgh comes in. While there’s no comparing the gentrification of Warren Street in Hudson with Newburgh’s west-of-Hudson River grittiness, we absolutely love Newburgh’s architecture and history, and this 4900 square foot stand-alone townhouse sits squarely in the middle of a lot of that historic architecture…with the Newburgh Historical Society located right next door.

Built in 1897, the 5 bedroom home includes 3 floors (second and third floors have their own heating system), crazy-high ceilings and complementary big windows, pocket doors, formal sitting rooms, and fireplaces.

We wish we could see more of the inside and .17 acre backyard. Oh, wait! We can, thanks to our friend/contributor Cher Vick over at Newburgh Restoration. She did a great write-up of the history of this townhouse and its Grand Street location with more interior photos from a previous listing sprinkled in for good measure. Read the post to see more. Meanwhile, here are the listing photos:
