Stone House Grandeur in Saugerties, $899,000
Kandy Harris | June 24, 2014Saugerties is a usually great place to look for stone houses (thanks, Dutch settlers!) since there’s usually one or two or more on the market. The Wynkoop House, shown above, was built in 1750, and while it’s technically located in the Ulster County town of Saugerties, it’s much closer to Palenville in Greene County than to the village of Saugerties. The restoration here is just right, uncluttered and clean, with white walls and period aspects like recessed windows, plank floors, fireplaces, built-in shelves, etc. Bathrooms have marble countertops, and the kitchen looks new and modern. The listing refers to it as a mini-estate, and that sounds about right to us: In-ground pool, two-horse barn, and 8 acres of land make it sound like a full-time vacation.
