There’s an Opening in Saugerties Co-Housing
Upstater | November 27, 2012For those of you seeking a little density with your upstate New York real estate, a little community along with your country, we’ve had word that the Cantine’s Island Cohousing community, on a little peninsula in Saugerties, has a spot.
There are 18 households now — and more on the way — fronting the Esopus Creek. Cohousing is like a mix between a kibbutz and an NYC co-op: some meals together, decisions made in common, but you have your own place and, you know, your own job and such — no one has to go milk the cow before morning coffee. Or perhaps think of it as a modern day bungalow colony, for all seasons and without the Saturday night entertainment.
Here’s a website for a house that was for sale a few years ago, with nice shots of the eco-friendly contemporary home and the surrounding nature. If you’re interested in finding out more, shoot them an email.
