This Arts & Crafts Home is Pond-Perfect for Gardeners and Close to Vassar for $315K

We’re concluding our splashy week of pond-perfect places with this gem in Poughkeepsie.

The house was built in 1940 and is close to the Vassar College campus and great options for shopping and dining. It’s 1,540 square feet and sits on a tenth of an acre.

Great bones are evident when you walk in and are greeted by wood floors, although the new owner might want to refresh them a little.

The living room is a good size, and the vintage staircase is solid. An adventuresome homeowner could strip that paint off the newel post and railings for a nice contrast with the white spindles.

A parlor off the living room has a parquet floor, gray-painted walls with white trim, and wooden French doors…

…into this wild study, which also has parquet floors along with a wood stove and some creative hand-painting near the vaulted ceiling.

The kitchen flows off the parlor. It’s been updated, with a gray laminate floor, white cabinets with a bank of glass-front uppers above a peninsula, and granite-look counters.

Stainless-steel appliances pop against the white and gray color scheme, and tall pantry cabinets offer tons of storage.

The half-bath on the main floor has a white tone, from the floor to the walls to the fixtures.

Upstairs are three bedrooms, though only two are pictured in the listing. The floors desperately need refinishing up here, and it’s up to the new homeowner whether to keep that flock of birds on the accent walls.

Vintage sash windows ventilate the top floor and let the sun shine in.

The full bath is fully tiled in black and white. It has a laminate floor and separate, frosted-glass-door shower.

The tub is topped with an optical-illusion-like wall of mirrors, showing off the checkered tile up top.

The back of the house has a four-season room, overlooking a small lawn and a bluestone patio.

Imagine sitting here watching the rain, keeping warm by the woodstove as the snow flies, or just soaking up the sunshine with a cup of coffee in your hand.

The gardens out back include this petite water-garden pond.

A weeping cherry and a viney shrub flank a cute garden shed.

Raised beds beg for flowers and veg, come springtime.
