Farmhouse Update Extraordinaire Minutes from Kingston, $285K
Kandy Harris | October 30, 2019This 71-year-old Ulster farmhouse sports a fresh interior and a reasonable listing price.
This week on Upstater, we’ve been looking at big houses in the Kingston, NY, and that search takes us just a little north to the town of Ulster. There, we found this unassuming but recently-renovated home situated less than three miles from Uptown Kingston.

It’s unassuming, at least, until you take a look at the c.1948 farmhouse’s contemporary interior, which includes 1,800 square feet of renovated rooms, appliances, floors, and mechanical systems.
Here’s the catch: There seems to a be a few unfinished details within this house. If you look closely at the listing photos, you’ll notice edges without trim and a main staircase in need of a banister.

What does appear quite finished, however, is the kitchen, which looks like a home chef’s dream with butcher block counter tops, high-end appliances, and an eat-in dining room.

The bedrooms look positively enormous – if in need of finishing touches – with wood floors throughout…

…and, the backyard is big and offers a lot of potential for gardening, but it’s currently not landscaped, and the rear exterior walls still need siding.
For the price, however, we’re classifying this one as a real find, located within striking distance from Uptown, the I-87 Thruway, and Saugerties, NY.
