Upstater Destinations: Escape to the Catskills
Kandy Harris | April 24, 2014There are some decent travel deals in the Catskills on LivingSocial.com right now, so perhaps you should consider getting the heck out of town for a couple of nights. You know, just until the dust settles. Here are our three Escape Kit picks:
1) Glen Falls House, Round Top, Greene County:
Load the family into the wagon and head up to the Glen Falls House, an all-inclusive resort in the Catskills that offers a family-friendly environment. For $375, you can get a two-night stay for two adults and two children age 17 and younger in the best available room with two double beds, Fridays and Saturdays from May 9 to September 26, with six family-style seals ($375). Or, you can expand your stay and tweak your dates slightly for $399 or $465. Check the above link for details. They have there own waterfall and swimming hole. Six days remaining on this deal.
2) Emerson Resort and Spa, Mt. Tremper, Ulster County:
Luxuriate in the Emerson Resort’s Regal Suite for one night, Sunday through Wednesday, and get $50 toward spa services. What kind of spa services, you ask? These kind, right here. The resort includes a seasonal pool and hot tub. If you’ve never checked out the Emerson, do it. Rooms have a rustic/modern feel and are quite comfy. This deal goes for $149, and you can combine to stay longer. Worth it. Thirteen days left on the deal.
3) Jellystone Park in Greenfield Park, Sullivan County:
Here’s a deal if roughing it is more your style. Although, we don’t exactly consider Jellystone Park “roughing it”. It’s a camping resort, which means you drive in your RV or trailer, pitch your tent, or rent a cabin and enjoy all kinds of kid-friendly fun, like an Olympic size pool, playground, boats, and a 70 foot jumping pillow. Some of the cabins include A/C, WiFi, and cable. Swanky. For $50, you get a two-night stay for up to two adults and two children at a campsite for a tent, top-up camper, trailer, or RV, from May 1 to June 19 or September 2 to October 2. Check the deal for other options. Six days left on this one.
