This Week on Upstater: Indulging our Rhinebeck Fantasies
Upstater Staff | January 19, 2015We’re not ashamed to admit that sometimes, we just want to crack open the MLS and allow a parade of eye-candy properties to flash before our eyes, regardless of price or property tax bill. There are a few local markets that will almost always have a heaping helping of house fantasy fodder (would anyone be offended if we just come right out and call it house porn?). The town and village of Rhinebeck in Dutchess County is one such market. Whether we’re in the mood for pristine Victorians, open and airy Contemporaries, rural farmhouses, sprawling horse farms, etc., Rhinebeck usually delivers. And if we’re lucky, we’ll even find a couple of properties on the market in the hamlet of Rhinecliff, an Amtrak stop and picturesque spot just outside of Rhinebeck.
The village of Rhinebeck itself continues to be a popular locale for good food, boutique shopping, antiques hunting, art gallery exploring, day spas, yoga studios, and even live theater. Is it the cheapest place to live in the Hudson Valley? Not by a long shot, but that won’t stop us from drooling over its fabulous housing market, which we’ll be featuring all this week here on Upstater. Stay tuned…
