A Kinderhook Three-Bedroom with 79 Acres and a Spring-Fed Pond for $974.9K

  |  August 15, 2022

This hot, dry summer has us thirsting for water. So this week, we’re looking at properties that have ponds of all sizes: some barely large enough for a lilypad, and others in which you can swim away your cares.

This property in Kinderhook satisfies the latter choice: It’s got a spring-fed pond  that’s perfect for swimming or fishing. The 1,880-square-foot house was built in 2000 but its cedar facade has a rusticity that’s reminiscent of John Burrough’s Slabsides.

The top deck is equally rustic, with bark-stripped timbers for the railing and spindles.

Enter the lower-level main door under the top deck into this cozy family room, with a stone-tile floor. The staircase has an unusual pieced-limb railing, and attractive beadboard detailing on the side in a warm woodtone that matches the stairs.

Go up the stairs…

…into the living room—which has deck access from both a single, glass-paned door and sliders adjacent to it. You’ll find an open-concept space with a hardwood floor and wooden ceiling beams.

A dining area shares the space, along with nearly a full wall of windows.

The kitchen is country-cute, with oak cabinets, a separate cream-colored hutch, and an antler chandelier.

The primary bedroom is carpeted and has sliders out to the top deck.

A secondary bedroom is up here, too. It’s also carpeted and has three oak-trimmed windows to brighten it up.

The bathroom has ceramic tile, white walls, and oak trim to match the oak doors, mirrored medicine cabinets, and double-sink vanity.

The third bedroom is downstairs, and it’s carpeted and bright just like the ones on the top level. The painted-cinder-block walls do give off kind of a basement-y vibe.

The listing says there are two full baths and this half bath, with a laundry area.

Here’s the pond: It’s big enough to share a swim or a paddle with the bass that call it home.

The property totals a whopping 79 acres and includes this 36-by-40-foot barn…

…with five stalls for horses.

This cute little 20-by-20-foot hunting cabin is tucked amid the acreage, too.

It has a wood stove and a full kitchen. The listing says it has water and electricity but doesn’t mention a bathroom or bedroom. The property has multiple hiking and riding trails, as well as Catskills views, and it’s bordered by organic farms. It’s close to I-90.
