A Modern Yet Homey High Falls House, Plus a Restaurant: $1.59M
Jane Anderson | April 9, 2024This week, Upstater is visiting Stone Ridge and High Falls. Ulster County is chock-full of interesting, eclectic hamlets, and these definitely fit the bill.
Today we’re exploring the home of the owner of the Egg’s Nest restaurant in High Falls. Both the restaurant and the home are up for sale. Unlike the wildly colorful restaurant, the house is somewhat more subdued.
As rustic as it is outside, the house has a sleek, modern esthetic inside. Light hardwood flooring runs through the living room, which is open to the dining room and kitchen. Pale aqua walls reflect light from big windows.
Dark, skinny ceiling beams cross above the dining area, which sits next to the kitchen’s breakfast-bar peninsula .
Slick and shiny white upper cabinets float above gray counters atop cobalt-blue lower cabinets in the U-shaped kitchen.
This bedroom has ceiling beams and the same delightfully worn, light hardwood flooring as the living/dining area.
Orange walls in this bathroom hint at the color explosions happening next door at the Egg’s Nest. They’re tempered by white fixtures and white penny tile on the floor.
This cherry-red hallway, with stairs leading to the second level, heighten your awareness of color.
A galvanized shed-like ceiling punctuates this long and lean office space. The floor is a mix of planks and polished plywood, and the walls are a similar, merry mix of woods.
The living room, with a vaulted, beamed ceiling, is super bright and airy.
Columns separate the living room from the bedroom, with huge Roman shades that, we suppose, can pull down for a modicum of privacy.
The enclosed porch is cozy.
Ceiling beams reappear in this cute bathroom, which has a lightly lime-colored wall and a marble-topped vanity.
Outdoor space includes this gravel firepit.
The front of the house is done up in blues and antique reds that, along with abundant greenery, give it a homey feel. What a comforting place to return to after a long day operating the restaurant next door!
