The Iconic Egg’s Nest in High Falls, Plus Its Adjacent Home: $1.59M

  |  April 9, 2024

Did you miss Upstater yesterday? We’re doing a Two-fer Tuesday, featuring an iconic restaurant and accompanying home that are up for sale in High Falls.

Richard G. Murphy opened the Egg’s Nest in 1973, and Cristina and Eric Silver took the reins in 2016. So this is just the second time in 50+ years that the popular eatery is on the market. The exterior hints at the restaurant’s eccentricity, with wildly colorful siding and a generous, welcoming outdoor deck.

Color saturates the interior. The honey-toned wood floor and ceiling are just about the only neutrals in the entire place. Murals and artwork cover the walls.

A modern chandelier is centered within a metal ceiling medallion containing heat and ventilation.

Edison bulbs drip light along a wide wooden bar.

When the current owners took over, they invested more than $700,000 in renovations, including this oversized kitchen.

There’s more than enough space to handle the crowds that flock here.

This private event space is bright and sunny.

The restaurant measures nearly 5,000 square feet, and the outdoor space, including this deck, covers an additional 2,200 square feet.

The full basement includes a liquor/wine storage area.

We’re exploring the accompanying house in our next story. But if you’re in the market for a turnkey, well-established restaurant that just happens to be an icon within High Falls, find out more about 1300 Route 213, High Falls, from Marie-Claire Claessen-Gladstone with Corcoran Chelsea/Flatiron.
