A Stone Ridge Log Home: $749K
Jane Anderson | April 10, 2024The community of Stone Ridge/Marbletown is known for its iconic stone homes that date back to pre-Colonial days. Alas, there seem to be none on the market at the moment (except for one we featured a couple of weeks ago, which is a beautifully done replica).
Today, though, Upstater is at an equally beautiful Stone Ridge log home. It’s got the requisite high-pitched roof and full-width, covered front porch that make log homes lovable.
The porch is just right for red rockers.
The wood theme continues indoors, from a small open foyer into the high-ceilinged living room.
Catwalks abound overhead, signaling the home’s provenance—it was built in 1990, after all. A big woodstove toasts your toes in the colder months, alongside a bar with, of all things, a vintage cash register.
Logs stripped of their bark support the ceiling in the kitchen, which has sleek, Shaker-style wooden cabinets topped with solid-surface counters.
A blue-enameled Heartland Classic six-burner gas range adds glitzy panache.
Baskets hang from the rafters above the dining area. Thick logs demarcate the doorway between the dining and living rooms.
The house has three bedrooms. This one has enough room for a desk, too. The room’s encased in wood.
This room is equally forest-centric.
The hall bath has a ceramic-tile floor in the toilet area. It has a tub/shower and a long wooden vanity.
Ascend the stairs and head down the catwalk to the primary bedroom.
It has a pitched, beamed ceiling and wood just about everywhere, including on this four-post bed. The ensuite bath has a jetted tub.
A home office area is tucked into the other end of the room.
The house measures 1,788 square feet, and sits on a three-acre lot.
A detached, one-car garage has workshop space and dual carports.
The house is secluded and private, but it’s just about a 15-minute drive to the Ashokan Reservoir and fabulous musical weekends at The Ashokan Center.
It has a pond, too.
