Callicoon c.1904 Boarding House in need of Rehab, $229,000
Kandy Harris | November 17, 2015Anyone need 15 bedrooms? Check out this turn-of-the-century former Catskill Mountain boarding house, located just outside of Callicoon hamlet in Sullivan County. No sugar-coating it: This house needs work. Flipping through the photos, we noticed some troubling cracks that run from the ceilings through the walls, and the listing says it needs both a heating system and a new roof. Ouch. Still, maybe a skilled vintage house aficionado can get this big beauty back on its feet. Includes 30 acres of land (!!!) and a detached garage with workshop. By the way (yes, that’s a Byways pun), we love this property’s location not far off of Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (NYS Route 97). Lots of beautiful scenery and intriguing history up in these parts. Take the full 55 mile trek from Port Jervis up to Long Eddy and definitely stop in cute Callicoon during the journey.
