An Embarrassment of Riches Inside This Andes Farmhouse, $349,000
Kandy Harris | December 22, 2015This property is located out in the Delaware County town of Andes, western Catskills, on Skunk Hollow Road. Such an unfortunate moniker for a road that is home to this clean, crisp 19th-century farmhouse. The frilly Victorian front porch belies a warm, updated-country interior, while the glowing white rooms on the second floor practically begged us to yell “PAINT ALL OF THE THINGS WHITE!” before we returned to our senses.
We enjoy that we get more of a “mountain cottage” feeling (minus the high ceilings) than a “frothy Queen Anne Victorian” feeling from the interior, while the second floor is dazzling with a spa-worthy bath complete with soaking tub and rainfall shower head. In fact, it’s just those kinds of details that make this house aesthetically rustic (farmhouse doors with iron detailing and rough-hewn support beams) but modern in functionality (new mechanicals, electric, plumbing, kitchen, baths, etc.) and that combination is just fine by us. Really, just look at that kitchen. Not huge, but tricked out with Gaggenau gas range, basin sink, and stainless steel appliances. Who wouldn’t want to cook some mac & cheese in there?
Includes 4 beds/2 baths, 2750 sq. ft., and two acres of land with spring drinking water and an Airstream fitted with heat/electricity. Oh, did we not mention it comes with an Airstream? Silly us!
