From the Archives: Hudson Italianate with a Fresh New Look
Kandy Harris | May 6, 2015Here’s a story we love: Over 3 years ago, we posted about this jewel box Italianate in the city of Hudson. At the time, it was listed for $139,500. Hey, remember that time you could get a house for $139,500 anywhere near Warren Street in Hudson? Anyway, Geoffrey Good prudently snatched up this gem after seeing it right here on Upstater and gave it a clean, modern update. Now 423 Carroll Street is back on the market for $308,000, ready for an owner who loved it as much as Geoffrey and his family did. “It is a great little house in a super location; just too small for us now,” Geoffrey told us in a recent email. “Not many Second-Empire influenced houses of this size around, and we were always wondering what possessed the original builders to create a modest one like this with no others around.” We’ll probably never know, Geoffrey, but we can say for sure that we love what you’ve done with the place, and it gives a thrill that we get to feature it again in the hopes that another Upstater reader will buy it. May the circle be unbroken. For pics of the house pre-renovation, go here. Keep scrolling for the “After” shots.
