Handcrafted ‘Urban Escape Pod’ For Sale, $11,995
Kandy Harris | November 30, 2017This urban escape pod on wheels might be our favorite camper/portable home of the week. Not only is the exterior as cute as a button with flower boxes and wood-scrolled details, the interior has been meticulously constructed to feel more like a comfortable cottage instead of a Tiny House.
The portable home/glamper/’vardo’ caravan was built by Chris Schapdick, award-winning Tiny House builder based in New Jersey. It’s a brand-new Sure-Trac 5×8 trailer and outfitted with almost too many features to list, but we’ll try, anyway:
butternut kitchen counter
sycamore wood removable table
copper accents
light weight aluminum roof
gunstock oak floor
8 windows
storage space under the twin size daybed
built-in shelving
integrated battery/LED lights
USB ports
12V socket for off-grid use
5000BTU wall unit air conditioner
6’7″ ceiling height
pump facet
2-gallon water storage tank
weight of <2000 lbs. so you don’t need a heavy-duty truck to tow it.
That is a lot packed into a 5X8 trailer space! This ‘urban escape pod,’ as the seller describes it in the Craigslist ad, looks like a home away from home and a solid alternative to a five-figure property in the Catskills/Hudson Valley.
Find out more from the Craigslist ad, or take a video tour of the Tiny House here. Meanwhile, keep scrolling for more photos…
