Move to Kingston for Less Than $100,000, Part I: Well-Maintained Midtown Victorian, $99,900
Kandy Harris | March 4, 2016If we had to make a list of the best places to buy a first home in the Hudson Valley, Kingston city would be near the top of that list. Sure, the property taxes can be a little steep depending on the area of the city, but there are plenty of cute houses in mid-town tucked away down side streets priced so cheaply, we find them irresistible. And, if we were in the market for a first home and didn’t have a ton of money to spend, we’d be all over this 1200 square foot 2 bed/1 bath Victorian in beautiful condition.
It’s not huge, but the ceilings look tall, and those floors are beautiful. There’s even a wee patio in the back and a small patch of grass to grow some flowers. Also comes with a low tax bill, around $3750 in 2014.
Kingston’s uptown neighborhood with a myriad bars, restaurants, music venues, shops, etc. is just a few minutes away, as is the Strand with…a myriad bars, restaurants, music venues, shops, etc. Midtown has its high points: The Anchor, UPAC, Keegan Ales, Kingston Library, Monkey Joe’s, the YMCA pool…actually, midtown has a lot of high points these days.
