It’s long been a dream of ours to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of a waterfall. A real one, not the one on our nature sounds app. We imagine that you could do just exactly that while renting this Kaaterskill Creek-side cottage in the Greene County town of Catskill. That is one helluva view from the living room sliding glass doors that open out onto the deck overlooking the water, and the interior includes 2 beds/1 bath, living room stove, stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, and hardwood and ceramic tile flooring. Here’s the fly in our ointment: The listing indicates that no laundry is available onsite, so expect to be schlepping your frilly unmentionables to the laundromat…or out to the creek for some hand washing using an old-timey washing board.

Located close to artsy Palenville hamlet, the village of Catskill (about 15 mins, so even though the cottage is in the town of Catskill it is not in the village), and approx. 2 hours from NYC. No pets allowed and all utilities paid by tenant. Renter’s insurance is required, but you should have that, regardless of where you’re renting. House comes furnished.
