Queen City Lofts Welcomes Artists Home to Poughkeepsie

Creativity and community combine at Queen City Lofts, Poughkeepsie’s new artist and non-artist residences, construction underway…

Situated in downtown Poughkeepsie, NY’s Main Street, Queen City will consist of 69 two-story loft-style apartments, all set at or below-market rents. The artists units start at $716.00 per month for a one bedroom and $851.00 for a two bedroom. The non-artists will start at $1,099.00 per month for a one-bedroom and $1,395.00 for a two-bedroom.

Visual artists who live at Queen City will be able to show their work at no cost in the building’s front lobby/art gallery. Additionally, the LEED-certified building will include three common areas: A community room with computers for common use; a performance and practice studio space; and a shared artists’ studio.

Queen City will boast a number of resident amenities, include on-site laundry, on-site superintendent, on-site management office, on-site gallery space for the resident artists, and a rooftop terrace with views of the Hudson Valley.

Apply as an Artist

In order to qualify for Queen City’s low-cost artists lofts, at least one member of any applicant’s household must meet the Artist Certification Committee’s definition of “artist,” or anyone who practices fine, design, graphic, musical, culinary, literary, computer or performing arts; or, someone whose profession relies on the application of those skills to produce a unique creative product; i.e., an architect, crafts-person, teacher of art, music, dance, chef, photographer, etc. For more information on this process and to download an Artist Certification Application, visit queencityloftsny.com/#certif. Located on Main Street in Poughkeesie city, Queen City is walking distance to the Metro-North train station, the Walkway Over the Hudson, Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center, the Chance Theater, the Poughkeepsie Public Library, and local government offices. Loft residents will also be close to the Bardavon Opera House, Vassar College, Marist College, and area eateries, pubs, shops, and galleries.
