Sitting Pretty With Mount Beacon Views, $515K

  |  April 25, 2022

This week, we’re exploring Beacon. With some of the finest hiking in the area and a bustling Main Street—and let’s not forget the one-seat train ride to Manhattan—Beacon has been a happening place for some time now.

If a mountain view is your thing, this 1,820-square-foot house has it. From the outside, it looks like a basic 1950s Cape Cod—because it is—but the inside has some nicely done updates. And like all good real estate, what this house really has going for it is location, location, location.

…Like this sunny, refreshed living room, with a smashing eastern view of the mountains.

The living room flows into an open dining area and a large, updated kitchen with a spacious island.

You’ll have views of Mount Beacon as you prep dinner and wash the dishes.

The first-floor bedroom is now being used as an office, with the same stunning mountain views.

The first-floor bathroom is multi-purpose, with a huge walk-in shower, a linen closet, and full-size washer and dryer.

You could while away hours in this shower, which has multiple ways to soak you.

There are two large bedrooms tucked under the eaves on the second floor, with a ceiling that follows the roofline. This bedroom has plenty of space for a ceiling fan, two closets, and a reading nook in a dormered alcove.

The upstairs full bath has a tub/shower combination with neat, white subway tiling.

Like the other bedroom, this one has what looks like original hardwood floors. It also has a walk-in closet.

The house sits high above Route 9D, with an almost panoramic view of the Hudson Valley (hello, sunrises and sunsets). There’s over an acre of property here, plus a full, unfinished basement.

A detached garage is oversized, with room for one car and a large workshop in which to tinker.

The property has nice gardens and specimen trees that dot the landscape, with lots more room to plant whatever your green thumb desires. You can head to local hiking trails on foot from here, and it’s just a few minutes’ drive to downtown Beacon.

If you’d like to be king of the hill (or, rather, just gaze at the mountains), check out 550 Route 9D, Beacon, with Claire Browne at Compass Realty.
