Solar, Geothermal, and Lake Rights: Grab This Rhinebeck Home for $749K

Energy efficiency continues to be the name of the game this week, as Upstater visits a home in Dutchess County’s Rhinebeck.
The house has solar panels, as seen above on the rear roof, and is heated with a geothermal system. Set into the side of a rocky hill, the home has a lot of stone accents in walls throughout the property and covering the foundation and its attached, two-car garage.

Walk through a courtyard garden to the front door, which has a filigreed glass insert and two sidelights.
The foyer is atrium-esque, with skylights above, more windows flanking the door, and wood flooring. Built-in shelves have a turquoise back wall that’s eye-catching. A powder room is also tucked into this area.

The vaulted-ceiling living room has a wood-clad, brick-lined fireplace that dates to the home’s origins in 1961. It’s got a woodstove insert for efficient heating.

The kitchen, too, has a vaulted ceiling with clerestory windows and skylights. Cobalt Mexican tiles line the floor, and honey-toned wood cabinets are topped with dark quartz countertops. French doors lead to an outside deck.

The rest of the main level has a sitting area…
…a family room with a walk-in closet…

…and a guest suite.

You can see the private entrance to the guest suite in this bathroom’s mirror. The bathroom has a nice vessel sink atop a cobalt-tiled, chunky vanity, and a corner shower.
The main level is finished off with another bedroom that has a skylight in its vaulted ceiling. It has a hall bath, too, that’s not pictured.

Head up the staircase to the second floor, which is dedicated to the primary suite.

It’s got a bamboo floor, lots of wood-lined windows, and a pitched ceiling. The bed backs up to a wall that might be structural or might just be…there.
The primary ensuite has a spa tub surrounded by beige tile; a bidet; and a vessel-sink vanity.

The door at the top of the stairs leads outside…

…to a private deck overlooking the rocks and the woods.

The basement is finished and has a utility room, two cedar closets, and a sauna.
It also has a tile-floored wine room!
The house is on an acre, and it’s just a short walk to the 25-acre Round Lake (lake rights are deeded with the house).
It’s just 10 minutes from the house to Amtrak and downtown Rhinebeck.
