Creativity and Camaraderie Abound at the Summer Market June 22-24

Catch the creative spirit in Hudson, NY at the Hudson River Exchange’s Summer Market…

There are a few things HRE’s Stella Yoon wants you to know about the Summer Market: It’s a maker’s beehive buzzing with creativity. And, it’s also a reunion of sorts for the makers and creators who’ve participated over the past six years. And, as marketplace shoppers peruse a large selection of products, creatives can swap ideas, barter, and share trade secrets behind the scenes.

In other words, according to Yoon, “It’s hard to describe. People should come see it, because it’s awesome.”

Specifically-speaking, the Summer Market is a weekend gathering of creativity and exchange, bringing together about 100 makers, collectors, farmers, live musicians and community organizers to celebrate creation, connection, and the scenic beauty that is the Hudson Valley. Looking for a reason to hang out on the Hudson River and soak in all that creative Hudson Valley mojo? This is your chance.

Lovers of Textiles, Take Note

This year’s market will offer a showcase of textiles, everything from handmade clothing, home decor, fiber jewelry, craft kits and fabric yardage sourced from artisans around the world.

Other artisan wares include jewelry, health/beauty products, baked goods, ceramics, housewares, knitting/sewing supplies, and artwork. For a full list of this year’s vendors, visit hudsonriverexchange.com.

The Summer Market is also where the inaugural release of HRE’s print publication of Made+Collected will take place (read more about Made+Collected here). “Over the years we have been deeply inspired by the our creative community,” said Yoon. “This magazine came into existence because we wanted to share the maker experience that is unique to this place. It’s part magazine that features products you’ll find at Summer Market and part creative service directory featuring a wide range professionals based in the Hudson Valley. It’s a celebration of creativity.”

The Summer Market kicks off on Friday, June 22 from 5pm-9pm with the Summer Market Preview and Suarez Family Brewery 2nd Anniversary Party. It continues from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, June 23, and 11am to 4pm on Sunday, July 24.
