A Sylvan Setting for this Tannersville c.1919 Cottage, $359,000
Staff | January 9, 2017When it comes to a Hiker’s Paradise, you’d be hard pressed to find an area as paradise-y as the northern Catskills in Greene County. The town of Hunter in particular offers much in the way of outdoor recreation in general, including skiing/snowboarding/tubing, camping, swimming, fishing, and, of course, hiking. Take in the views from the trails at North/South Lake, bask in the glory of Kaaterskill Falls, marvel at still more waterfalls at the Platte Clove Nature Preserve, or give yourself a real challenge on Devil’s Path, widely believed to be the toughest hiking trail in the east.
Onteora Park a gated community located just north of Tannersville village in the town of Hunter, about 10 minutes from Hunter Mountain. We’ve drooled over houses in the community before, thanks to the fact that Onteora Park, like its neighboring community Elka Park, is jam-packed with some real jaw-droppers. Think 6000 square foot Craftsman cottages or Victorian manses with 7 bedrooms…that are seasonal. That’s quite a vacation home. This c.1919 year-round cottage is situated amongst them and comes with two acres of land surrounding it. Also includes a warm interior with hardwood floors, four bedrooms, two updated, spa-like baths with sauna. Our favorite feature of this property, however, is located outside the house, in the form of an old stone wall that intersects the land. Lots of trees and forests, too, so there’s plenty of privacy.
Located 2.5 hours from NYC.
35 Minwawa Road, Tannersville (Sotheby’s)
