A Pair of Cute Cabins on the Other Side of the Mountain, $370K

  |  February 14, 2019

Just to the east and over the mountain from Cold Spring, NY, are two Putnam Valley cabins on a half-acre with easy access to the Appalachian Trail.

Outdoorsy folks: Put down your tent stakes and take a look at these sweet and remodeled log cabins at the southernmost portion of Clarence Fahnestock State Park. The 14,337-acre park spans both Dutchess and Putnam Counties, with a portion of the Appalachian Trail, swimming beach, and boat launch. It’s ideal is you want to soak in the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley while staying close to civilization (Cold Spring village is 15 minutes west, and NYC is about an hour’s drive).

And, don’t get us wrong. There’s nothing wrong with camping out. But, there’s also nothing wrong with trading in ground-sleeping for owning your own place to sleep off the ground once you’re ready to retire from a day of outdoorsy fun. Maybe light a fire. Maybe cook a property meal. Some of us aren’t getting any younger.

Cabin number one features an open scheme living area with cathedral ceilings, plenty of windows, and a kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel. Woods floors throughout.

The single bedrooms comes with a working stone fireplace, slate floors, and built-ins. In addition to two full baths, the cabin comes with a library/office nook, as well as a deck overlooking the West Branch Canopus Creek.

Cabin number 2 is smart and sassy with a kitchenette, breakfast bar, full bath, living room, and second floor bedroom.

This week, we’ve been looking at our favorite real estate listings in and around Cold Spring, NY, and, while this property is just outside of town in Putnam Valley, we think it’s worth the trip.
