Milan Contemporary, $1.25 mill
Kandy Harris | May 5, 2014We are big fans of architect William Massie’s work. At first glance, some might consider his designs to cold and minimalist. Well, yes, we would call this prefab house in Dutchess County minimalistic, but certainly not cold. There’s a softness here, in our opinion, in details like the grain of the plywood used for the accent walls and the amount of natural light pouring in. Of course, the incredible furnishings help, as well, which were curated specifically for this house. Massie currently serves as the architect-in-residence at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. Oh, and this house is known as “The Skull”. It’s not hard to see why, with its white concrete shell with floor-to-ceiling windows resembling the teeth. Whatever you choose to call it, we call it a true work of art. One of our favorites in the HV. Read more about it and Massie in this Dwell article. Located on over 5 acres about 15 minutes east of Red Hook village.
